OUR STORY

Northern Canine is run by Gemma, a dog trainer from Carlisle, Cumbria who has spent almost a decade working with and developing training plans for dogs in rescue.  After spending numerous years working with and rehoming rescue animals the last few years have been dedicated to establishing and designing the training department for the same rescue centre, whilst offering training to the community.

With a BSc (Hons) in Animal Behaviour and Welfare gained at the beginning of her career, Gemma moved on to gain IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers) accreditation and complete various courses as part of continued professional development. Working directly with dogs surrendered for behavioural issues ranging from dog to dog reactivity, stranger reactivity, resource guarding, hyper behaviours and more, it gave prime opportunity to directly apply learning and skills.

Our services can be offered to a wider range of people and meet a variety of needs from dog owners. Dog training classes and puppy classes previously run by Gemma will be on hold but 1:1 sessions are up and running.
